Beyond the Bridge tells the story of Akumal, Mexico, a divided community that discovered common ground after welcoming artists into civic life. Response to the film speaks to the power of YES .

Presenting Beyond the Bridge to a group of practitioners at Placemaking US in Miami, Florida.
What is creative placemaking? There's more than one definition, but the National Endowment for the Arts offers the most comprehensive: creative placemaking integrates arts, culture, and design activities into efforts that strengthen communities. Creative placemaking requires partnership across sectors, deeply engages the community, involves artists, designers and culture bearers, and helps to advance local economic, physical, and/or social change, ultimately laying the groundwork for systems change.
Cool!
